Gaining Fame

There is my sweet little Mollie modeling some really cozy and beautiful children's clothing on Zulily.com today. I'm so proud to see her there. She was so good and patient when I photographed her that day. She doesn't mind me chasing her around with a camera, but it can be tricky to get her just the right way for commercial photography. It's a funny feeling to go on a website you look at daily and find yourself looking at an image that A. you took and B. is of your daughter. I can't help but smile.

These photos are something that Mollie and I can do together. I don't want her to be a supermodel or a beauty pageant contestant - I just want her to be comfortable in front of a camera. It's the same way with my students and dancing. I don't want or expect them to all be famous dancers, but I would love for them to be comfortable enough with who they are someday to want to dance at their own proms. I want Mollie to feel comfortable enough in front of a camera that she doesn't cringe when someone says "smile" or go into a different room when a photographer is present.

I hope that someday, I can teach Mollie to share my love of a camera from both sides of the lens.
